Hartlepool United away

Kearney goal gives City win
Hartlepool United 0
Bradford City 1
Tom Kearney 0-1

Tom Kearney's first half goal gave City a 1-0 win over Hartlepool.

Kearney's goal came an hour into the close encounter and was the result of a rebound following a powerful drive from the impressive Gary Locke.

City gave a trial to Gus Uhlenbeek who scored City's last league (own) goal in the 2-2 draw with Walsall and the travelling Bantams were pleased to see Gordon Watson leading the line for the home side.

It was also pleasing to see Watson not only back playing but back playing well. He looks a player who relishes every game he takes part in and still has a dart of pace and no little ability. Watson would have equalised in the last minute of today's game were it not for a fine stiff hand save from Gary Walsh.

City looked promising. The midfield had a solidity that was impressive. Up front we are lacking badly but word had it that Nicky Law was looking at getting in a season long loaner to solve this although names of such a player seemed thin on the ground.
